Tahitian Palm Leaf Weave Placemats - Paper Craft Decor for Your Island Party
What you will need:
- cardboard or paperstock in colour/s of choice
(go for cream or brown for a natural effect)
- glue
Instructions:
1. Cut the paper into long strips about 1/2 inch thick.
2. Weave the paper strips to create a large "straw mat".
3. Cut the paper "straw mat" to small about 3" x 3" for cup mats. Make another one if necessary, and cut down to 10" x 17" for dinner placemat sizes.
4. Glue down lose edges by dabbing on glue where the strips meet.
You can use this method to create cheap and fast island theme party decoration for your table-setting or as a runner for the food table.
