Tropical Cooldown

Ingredients:
Mango juice or puree, Orange liqueur (eg. curacao) or orange fizzy drink for the kids, Grenadine syrup and Ice

Recently we hosted a small daiquiri cocktail party and we made up many alcoholic and non-alcoholic recipes. "Tropical Cooldown" was one that we came up with that was very popular with the guests.

Method: (for 250ml)
- Crush about a handful of ice
- [Alcoholic:] Add 1/3 cup of mango juice and a splash of (curacao)
[Non-Alcoholic:] Add 1/3 cup of mango juice and 1/4 cup of orange soft drink
- blend all ingredients together
- pour into a margarita glass, add a thin swirl of grenadine around outside edge (or top) of drink, add a short straw
- add a thin slice of lime or orange for decoration if desired

Simple recipe that satisfies the tropical fantasy!

Tropical Island Party Theme Food Picks

What you will need:
- toothpicks (small for hors d'oeuvres and finger foods, and larger screwers types for sandwiches or other foods)
- flowers, petals and leaves (preferably frangipani, hibiscus or other tropical species, or
- cut pictures of petals or leaves from colourful magazines (eg. wedding bouquet magazines are a great resource!), or
- use "My Island Party" planner crêpe paper flower decoration templates.

Step 1. Simply thread your flower petal or leaf onto the top end of a toothpick.
Step 2. Place all decorated food picks on your finger foods or dishes, or have them placed in a cup for guests to pick and use.

Idea! Spike all picks on an apple or potato (something that won't leave too much taste to the food picks).

Idea!! To keep your flower, petal or leaf to stay on the top end of the food pick, prepare little cubes of apple or potato and spike through pick to act as a stopper.
