Getting ready for Heiva i Tahiti 2006

Vahines, tanes and all Tahitian dance teachers have started preparing for their entry to the "Heiva i Tahiti 2006" festival in July. These includes all the dancers, band members and the group leaders. They have to pick their theme or polynesian story that they want to portray at the Heiva, start to organise the costume designs and of course practice and train for hours up until the event in "Tiurai" (July in Tahitian). Tahitian dance practice has started already. Many dancers are practicing after work at nights for up to 4 hours and at least twice a week. It takes dedication and we all appreciate the beauty that they present to Tahiti and its people as well as visiting tourists at the Heiva. Fa'aitoito!
